Oddities
Passive usage
Note that the passive forms of verbs seem to be more common when the speaker is the subject. For example:
O lo'o 'e 'ai | » | You are eating |
Olo'o 'ou 'aia | » | I am eating |
Sa togi e le tama le polo | » | The boy threw the ball |
Sa ou togia le polo | » | I threw the ball to john |
Or the same situation:
O le a ou tapeina le mogamoga | » | I will kill the mogamoga |
Plural pronouns
When speaking about yourself and something else, you would use something plural in place of 'ou ("I"). For example:
Sa ma talanoa ma John | » | I spoke with John. |
