Oddities

Passive usage

Note that the passive forms of verbs seem to be more common when the speaker is the subject. For example:

O lo'o 'e 'ai » You are eating
Olo'o 'ou 'aia » I am eating
Sa togi e le tama le polo » The boy threw the ball
Sa ou togia le polo » I threw the ball to john

Or the same situation:

O le a ou tapeina le mogamoga » I will kill the mogamoga

Plural pronouns

When speaking about yourself and something else, you would use something plural in place of 'ou ("I"). For example:

Sa ma talanoa ma John » I spoke with John.
